FlexRide Rules




  • The service area is:
  • The area bounded by Rawsonville, Bemis, Hitchingham and Textile Roads, plus
  • The Ypsilanti District Library, plus
  • The Ypsilanti Township Hall, plus
  • Paint Creek Shopping Center (by Kroger’s), plus
  • The Lincoln Schools between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and between 4:15 p.m. and 5 p.m.
  • Trips must both end and originate in this area.


NOTE:  At Paint Creek, drivers can pick up and drop off at the bus stops when the buses are not there.  When the buses are there, they will pull up to the parking spaces by Dean Road on the rear of the north side (non-Kroger’s side) of the shopping center.



  • Orders with a destination of Paint Creek (by Kroger’s) should be placed 35 minutes or more ahead of time in order to be able to meet the next scheduled bus.
  • All orders will be given a pick-up time by the CSR or dispatcher who takes the order.
  • Advance reservations (one day ahead) may select the time that their order is due. If that time slot is filled, GLI staff will then slot the order into the next available pick-up time (the next slot going forward).
  • There is a 15-minute pick-up window on all orders. This means that a 9:00 a.m. order can be picked up between 9 and 9:15.
  • No-go’s for pick-ups that are NOT meeting an AAATA bus at Paint Creek (by Kroger’s) will be called after the driver has been on site for 5 minutes any time in the pick-up window.
  • Pick-ups at Paint Creek that ARE meeting the bus will be called 5 minutes after the bus arrives.
  • Drivers will call and then text the phone numbers in the orders when they arrive at pick-up sites.
  • Passengers should be on board the vehicle for 45 minutes or less.
  • Service is on a first-come, first-served service. This means that there may be time periods where no additional orders can be taken.



  • Trips will be provided between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
  • Reservations will be taken between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.



  • The fare is $1 per person unless one of the following discounts applies:
  • The following get a discount of $.50 (ride for $.50):
    • Fare deal card holders (red).
    • K-12 students (high school students MUST show student ID to the driver in order to receive this discount).
  • The following can ride for free, but MUST show their card to the driver when traveling:
    • A-Ride card holders.
    • Senior Taxi / Gold Card Holders.
  • Children 5 and under also ride for free.



  • Advance reservations through the web site must be made by 4 p.m. the previous day, or for one hour in advance on the same day. Web orders made for the next day after 4 p.m. should be rejected.
  • Advance reservations made via phone must be made at least 45 minutes in advance of desired pick-up time.
  • There is a 15-minute pick-up window for all reservations. For advance reservations, this will be between the stated time and for 15 minutes afterward. This means that an advance reservation for 10:00 a.m. will be picked up between 10:00 and 10:15.
  • All on-demand orders will be given a pick-up time when calling. There will be a 15-minute window on these orders. This means that if they are told the pick-up will be for 9:30, the vehicle can be there anytime between 9:30 and 9:45.
  • All reservations must have:
    • The passenger’s name.
    • A phone number.
    • A rate class (trip type).
    • Method of payment.
    • Pick-up time.
    • Origin (pick-up point).
    • Drop-off point.
    • Number of passengers.
  • All orders done via the web site or the app require a credit card and are NON-REFUNDABLE. Cash orders must come in over the phone.
  • For orders due discounts, the following discount codes must be entered:
    • For $.50 discounts:
      • Fare Deal (red):  FAREDEAL
      • K-12 students (high schoolers show student ID):  K12
    • For $1 discounts:
      • A-Ride (green):  ARIDE
      • Senior Taxi (yellow): GOLDRIDE
      • Children 5 and under: FLEXCHILD
  • Separate reservations must be entered for each passenger, with the exception of children 5 and under. This is necessary in order to ensure accurate reporting.



  • In-vehicle payment must be in cash. Passengers must have exact change:  DRIVERS WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY CASH AS CHANGE.  Any change will be given as a coupon for future rides, and only for bills up to $10.
  • Drivers will not wait or stop at stores or other locations for passengers to get change.
  • All fares must be collected at the start of the trip.
  • Web site reservations must pay using PayPal or a credit card.



  • No food or drink in vehicles.
  • Reservations may be placed up to one business day in advance.
